Nature Recovery Assistant

We’re looking for a Nature Recovery Assistant to support the development and delivery of ambitious urban rewilding projects across Greater London, whilst completing a bespoke training programme designed to upskill in the emerging needs of the green workforce. This unique, hands-on, 12-month opportunity is ideal for career changers or those looking to start a career in the nature recovery sector. You’ll gain experience across urban rewilding delivery, project development and management, community engagement, stakeholder collaboration, communications and sustainable finance, while taking part in a dedicated training programme designed to build the skills needed to meet the emerging requirements of the nature recovery sector.

Some examples of possible responsibilities across various areas are as follows:

On-site surveys and delivery

  • Support ecological surveys and site assessments
  • Assist with planning and coordinating site restoration activity
  • Help collect monitoring data and support evaluation

Project coordination and stakeholder support

  • Support basic project management tasks, including tracking actions and project reporting
  • Assist with coordinating site visits, meetings, advisory groups, and working groups
  • Help maintain positive relationships with landowners and other key stakeholders
  • Support events, presentations, and knowledge-sharing activities
  • Assist with reports, presentations, and project updates

Community Engagement

  • Help plan and deliver inclusive workshops and citizen science activities
  • Support community stakeholder mapping and outreach
  • Support engagement with schools, youth groups, and community organisations
  • Represent the project at events, with support from other team members

Research

  • Carry out research to support nature-based finance approaches
  • Assist with early exploration of funding and finance opportunities
  • Support the team with gathering evidence to support best practice across rewilding and nature recovery and staying abreast of relevant sector news and updates

Communications

  • Support internal communications and coordination across teams
  • Help develop website content and public-facing materials
  • Create content to raise awareness for the Trust’s Nature Recovery programmes e.g. blog posts

Our ideal Nature Recovery Assistant 

  • A passion for nature recovery and enthusiasm for rewilding in London
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good administration skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and databases
  • A proactive, adaptable attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative

Closing Date: 9am 10th August

Interviews: Are scheduled to take place between 24th – 27th August and reasonable adjustments will be offered to all candidates including the choice to meet online or in-person.

  • 20th – 21st October 2026 (in-person in Leeds)
  • 2 days (TBC) during week commencing 30th November 2026
  • 25th – 26th May 2027 (in-person in Worcester)
  • 21st – 22nd June 2027
  • 5th – 6th July 2027
