Responsibilities of our Cat Welfare Engagement Officer:

  • Improve the lives of cats in the devolved nations by working with people and organisations that can make a difference
  • Develop and lead a plan that encourages better cat welfare by influencing how people behave and make decisions (human behaviour change). This will support our operational roles and our ‘All for Cats’ strategy
  • Build strong relationships with local vets, animal welfare officers, community leaders, and other groups. Also working closely with internal teams and volunteers to make sure everyone is aligned and working towards the same goals
  • Act as a visible ambassador for Cats Protection at events and key meetings, raising the profile of our work and building support for our mission

About the Cat Welfare Engagement Team: 

  • The Cat Welfare Engagement Team sits in the Cat Welfare Department, who are responsible for developing understanding, guidance and assurance around cat welfare, and disseminating this knowledge across the organisation and beyond
  • The Cat Welfare Engagement Team are responsible for supporting Cats Protection in influencing society to improve lives of cats. They do this by:
  • Working closely with the wider organisation to ensure that we influence and engage with society in a way that represents and supports cats’ needs and helps to improve the lives for cats
  • Working with key stakeholder groups (vets, vet nurses, behaviourists etc.) to enable them to improve the lives of cats they come into contact with

What we’re looking for in our Cat Welfare Engagement Officer: 

  • Proven experience of leading operationally on community projects within a charity setting
  • Significant and demonstrable experience of working with human behaviour change principles to drive continuous improvement within in a community-focused setting
  • Understanding of the charity sector and significant experience working with volunteers
  • Understanding of the appropriate devolved nation’s communities and culture, particularly in relation to animal welfare and community engagement
  • A full UK manual driving license and comfortable driving a small van
