
Hours: 23.25 (9am – 5.30pm, with 45 mins lunch break, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Days on rota may sometimes change, in agreement with you, to cover holidays and short staffing)
As an Animal Care Assistant, you will be responsible for providing outstanding care to all the animals on site at the sanctuary during their rehoming journey. This is a ‘hands-on’ role that will require you to deliver the daily care necessary to meet their needs both physical and emotional. You will work alongside a dedicated team of volunteers and will be expected to provide volunteers with regular guidance on tasks as well as support them in their training. Public engagement in this role is crucial to ensure a welcoming, positive and supportive environment to visitors, to potential adopters and to those who are having to surrender their pets.

What We’re Looking For:
- Experience of working with animals in a sanctuary/shelter, or similar environment
- Current full driving license
- Fundamental understanding of animal welfare best practices and safe handling guidelines
- Strong interpersonal skills, both in-person and online
- Strong organisational and time management skills to include computerised systems
- Ability to create engaging social media posts and basic digital content
- Comfortable interacting with visitors, volunteers, and the public
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
- Highly Advantageous to hold an animal management qualification
- Understanding of safeguarding issues
