Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Water Vole Recovery Project Officer with experience of creating and enhancing wetland habitats and working with a wide range of landowners to play a key role in delivering our ambitious Water Vole Recovery Project.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference to one of the UK’s most iconic and threatened native mammals.

What you will be doing

Working closely with colleagues, landowners, farmers, volunteers and partner organisations, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of practical conservation activities that create, restore and enhance habitats for water voles across Nottinghamshire. You will also contribute to a coordinated mink control programme, helping to reduce one of the greatest threats to water vole populations.

This is a varied, hands-on role that combines habitat management, ecological conservation, contractor and volunteer coordination, stakeholder engagement and project delivery.

What are we looking for

We’re seeking someone who has:

  • Experience of planning and delivering practical conservation and countryside management activities
  • Ecological survey and assessment experience
  • Experience of working with and liaising with community groups and farmers
  • Experience and willingness to undertake mink control

This post is subject to a Basic DBS Check.  You will be expected to travel across the county, so a driving licence is essential.  We are planning to hold interviews on 28 July 2026.
